How to do business with: NC Ports Authority

by Wanda Pugh-Trice
August 2008

North Carolina’s International Seaports in Wilmington and Morehead City, plus inland terminals in Charlotte and Greensboro, link the State’s consumers, businesses and industry to world markets and serve as magnets to attract new business and industry.

The Materials Management Department, centrally located in Wilmington, is responsible for administration and compliance of the purchasing, contracting services and equipment, and supply inventory operations to support each department at all of the Authority’s locations.

We encourage all vendors to contact any member of the Procurement Team to become acquainted with the many types of equipment, materials, supplies and services required by the Authority. It is our policy to ensure non-discrimination on the basis of sex, race, color, religion, age or disability in any of its procurement activities.

Vendors are encouraged to register online at www.ncports.com under Business Opportunities and register with the State of North Carolina Interactive Purchasing System Vendor Link at www.doa.state.nc.us/PandC/VendorLinkNC.htm to receive future bids and business opportunities. Registration under Vendor Link will provide you with opportunities from across the State. We also encourage vendors to complete a vendor application that informs us the type of commodities or services offered by the vendor, length of time in business, general financial responsibilities and other pertinent facts. Applications can be picked up at the Materials Management Building, 2508 Burnett Blvd., Wilmington, NC, or, faxed or emailed to you upon request. You can view current business opportunities for the NCSPA at our website www.ncports.com under Business Opportunities. If you need assistance, please contact Wanda Pugh-Trice.

In the near future we are planning a vendor workshop designed to answer questions and assist with how to complete a bid and respond to a bid. Please check our website, for the upcoming schedule.
